Scholarship for UG and PG Students at the Indian Statistical Institute a monthly stipend is awarded at the time of admission to each student, which is valid initially for the first semester only. Stipends are given after the end of each month for twelve months in each academic year.

Eligibility Details for UG and PG Students at the Indian Statistical Institute

Students Meeting Attendance Rules

Overall course attendance must be 75% or above.

Students With No Other Government Scholarship

If you receive any other government-funded scholarship:

ISI stipend stops.

Any backdated scholarship must be repaid.

When Your Stipend Continues at the ISI Scholarship

If you have another government scholarship

  • University stipend stops immediately.
  • If the other scholarship is given with a backdated effect, you must return the stipend already received.

Academic Performance Rules

No stipend next semester if:

  • Any course score is below 35%, or
  • More than one course is below 45%, or
  • Your semester average is below 45%

You get:

  • Full stipend → if your average ≥60%
  • Half stipend → if your average is 45%–60%
  • Scores are checked after the back-paper results.

Attendance Requirement

  • Attendance must be at least 75%.
  • If not, no stipend next semester.

Conduct on Campus

  • Stipend can be withdrawn for misconduct.
  • No retrospective restoration.

Repeating Students

  • No stipend or contingency during repeat year.
  • Students facing financial issues may request support from the university.

Special Stipend Rules for M.Tech (CS)

M.Tech (CS) students must meet extra academic requirements in each semester (minimum 45% in required courses and ≥60% average in best courses). If full stipend is not cleared, half stipend may still apply.

Contingency Grant (Annual Support)

Given only to students receiving full stipend.
